The International Air Transport Association (IATA) established in Havana, Cuba in 1945 is the trade association for the world’s airlines, representing some 290 airlines or 82% of total air traffic. Airlines transport over 52 million metric tons of goods a year, representing more than 35% of global trade by value but less than 1% of world trade by volume. FIATA International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations founded in Vienna, Austria in 1926 is a nongovernmental, membership-based organization representing freight forwarders in some 150 countries.
